N'eco's
Natural Store & Cafe, established on Earth Day 2010, offers
healthful tasty cuisine and natural products in a relaxing
country cottage atmosphere. Located in an upscale
neighborhood of Defence, this unique café offers healthy
meals prepared using organic ingredients, a shop stocking a
wide variety of organic groceries and a boutique bakery for
gourmet cakes, cookies and breads. The natural wood tables,
live tree and home-style decor help you get back to nature
in a friendly, cozy setting. The inspiration behind N'eco's was to reconnect people
with nature and natural, unadulterated foods.
Nilofer Saeed, the creator and owner of N'eco's, wanted to
create a space with the feel of an Old English cottage home
and
a farmer’s market where people could enjoy natural,
healthful cuisine, freshly baked breads and pastries and
purchase all types of hard-to-find, naturally made products.
N'eco's helps its patrons get away from
the hustle bustle of the city and enter a space of
wonderful smells, wholesome recipes, friendly faces, a
soothing ambiance and positive energy.
HEALTHFUL
CUISINE
N'eco's
strives to offer the most healthful cuisine which is made
with whole foods and natural high quality ingredients. The
cafe avoids
using too much spice, salt and sugar, as well as avoiding
preservatives and artificial flavors. When possible, organic fruits and vegetables that are in season
are chosen. The cafe also makes its own jams, sauces, toppings and fillings.
In addition, there are
many options for vegetarians and the health conscious. Be
sure to check the new
“dish of the day” which is written on the café blackboard.
One of the
most popular dishes is the French Toast, which is N'eco's signature dish.
Some other favorites include the yoghurt cheese cakes, manicotti, hummus, spinach and artichoke dip, hummus and chicken
liver pate with crispy pita, the strawberry jam and other
preserves, and the muesli and flaxseed milk
shakes. In addition, approximately twenty new gourmet cakes have been introduced,
and for Ramazan, frozen samosas and rolls are available along with a variety of unique jams. And
don't forget to check the refrigerator for a fine selection
of cakes, salad dressings, jams in country-style jars and other
exciting goods for enjoying at home. In addition, freshly
baked breads including gluten-free and diabetic varieties
are available for take-away.
At N'eco's, hygiene and proper food handling practices are
of utmost importance. The cooking and waiting staff is
always suited in appropriate attire of uniforms, hats, aprons, and gloves where required.
WHEATGRASS SHOTS
Neco's is
probably the only place in Pakistan where you can find
organic freshly squeezed wheatgrass shots. Wheatgrass is a
natural source of vitamins and minerals and is known to be
the ultimate body purifier. Since wheatgrass has abundant
health-promoting properties, it is used to treat a number of
conditions including the common cold, coughs, bronchitis,
fevers, infections and inflammation of the mouth and throat.
In folk medicine, practitioners used wheatgrass to treat
cystitis, gout, rheumatic pain, skin disorders and other
chronic conditions. Some proponents equate chlorophyll (the
component that makes wheatgrass and other plants green) with
hemoglobin, which carries oxygen in the blood, saying that
wheatgrass raises the body's oxygen levels.
Although most people use wheatgrass juice as a dietary
supplement or as a serving of vegetables, some proponents
claim that a dietary program commonly called "the wheatgrass
diet" can cause cancer to regress or "shrink" and can extend
the lives of people with cancer. They believe that the
wheatgrass diet strengthens the immune system, kills harmful
bacteria in the digestive system and rids the body of
toxins.

Downstairs
in the Natural Store, you'll find many exciting
health-oriented products. The shop is stocked with a wide
range of flours, hard-to-find health foods such as Goji
berries and alfalfa powder capsules, as well as bath and
beauty products such as hand-made soaps, and social
enterprise goods that are exclusive to the store.
