THE
COLLECTION
The word
Nauratan itself reminds us of bygone era that talked
about tehzeeb in every aspect of life. It also reminds us of
a time when dressing up was an art depicting innocence and
simplicity for comfort rather than an effort. An art where
colors, embellishments, fabrics, and the garment itself
represented a very rich culture. In an effort to remind us
of a very rich, colorful and culturally sound background,
the label Nauratan promises us to revisit those beautiful
times. It promises to celebrate the romance of olden days
and Mughal court regalia in modern times.
Foraying
into bridal and formal wear for the upcoming wedding season,
Sadaf Tariq of Nauratan unveils her dazzling couture
collection that can easily be described as seductive and
smart with a distinct form.
The fabrics and details are rich, delicate and romantic
while the styling classical and the design distinctive.
Playing with a wide spectrum of colors, Sadaf has
experimented with fabrics ranging from Jamavar, brocade, raw
silk to georgettes, chiffons, hand woven silk and satin.
Silhouettes include the age-old Lucknowi and farshi ghararas,
ghagras, shararas, Mugli-angrakhas, Patiala shalwars, khara
pajamas, kurta kameezs to modern day spaghetti strap
blouses, sequined sarees, corset kameezs all teamed with
straight pants. The embellishments vary from delicate
sequins, resham, aari and mukaish to traditional dabka,
marori, zardozi and badla.
THE WOMAN
BEHIND THE LABEL
Medicine is
her profession, designing her passion. Sadaf Tariq, a
medical doctor, for years has secretly and successfully
enjoyed her hobby of designing beautiful bridal and formal
wear for exclusive clientele. A designer who has established
her name with the burgeoning bridal segment is now equally
happy to go masses. She has finally realized that she must
professionalize her operations and build a strong
distribution network to emerge as a successful brand.
Inspired by
the richness and diversity of the mughal culture, Sadaf
designs couture that is bound to never go out of fashion.
Her clothes are a perfect juxtaposition of classic and
modern. The label Nauratan by Sadaf reflects
the true colors of Pakistani culture.
